The Ecosavers Standby Saver is a remote controlled electrical socket that lets you switch appliances off completely so they use no electricity.

How does it work? ......In a typical home you might have a TV, DVD, digital box and hi-fi all plugged into a four-way block which is plugged into the wall. To use the Standby Saver, simply unplug the four-way block from the wall, plug the Standby socket into the wall and then plug the four-way block into the Standby Saver socket. You can then switch off the power to all the appliances using the Standby Saver remote control.

Lots of home appliances have standby modes built-in and if for example the TV or DVD is left on standby mode overnight they will continue to use electricity. This not only costs money but wastes energy and contributes to carbon dioxide emissions.
