New features on the Radiator Booster Mk2 version include an automatic thermostat control which switches on at 32degC. The Radiator Booster is now also adjustable to fit small and larger radiators and is manufactured with one (more powerful) fan for quieter and cheaper running.
How does it work?
As your radiator heats up, the rear surface normally radiates heat onto your wall, heating this up, which is in turn lost through the wall structure due to conduction. The Radiator Booster uses miniature 12-Volt electric fans to suck most of this wasted heat up and sends it out into the room quicker than any natural convection.
This significantly reduces heat losses through the wall behind your radiator and as it heats the room quicker it also allows your heating system to shut down sooner thus saving you huge amounts of energy.
To operate this energy saving device simply place the Radiator Booster on top of a standard domestic radiator, plug it in and let the small fans do the work.
The Radiator Booster has very low running costs: Each fan is rated at less than 0.1 watt so 500 hours of use will use approx. 1kW of electricity resulting in an annual running cost of around 45p.
- - Can be placed under radiator covers which will increase efficiency and could save up to three times as much energy.
- - Place as far to the back and centralised along the length of the radiator for optimum performance.
- - Can be left running 24/7 - The new Radiator Booster Mk2 has an in-built thermostat that switches on at around 32degC and switches off when the radiator temp drops below this point.
- - Do not use on oil filled radiators, electric storage radiators or electric convection radiators.
- - Not for use in damp or humid environments such as bathroom, shower room, sauna or outbuildings.
- - Recommended you clean regularly to prevent dust build-up taking care with the delicate fan blades
- - Fans emit a low audible humming noise similar to that of home computers
- - May stir up a little house dust the first few times of use however this will settle down within a couple of days
- - Adjustable to fit small and larger size radiators
