A wine glass made from a wine bottle - now that's clever recycling and just the type of re-use of materials which can help make a difference.

These unique wine glasses are made from re-used rather than recycled glass.  The main body of each wine glass consists of the top of a mineral water bottle, the neck of which has been bonded to the base of a wine bottle using a special water-proof glass adhesive.

The manufacture of these glasses uses only cold production techniques and no melting or reheating of the glass takes place as is required with traditional glass recycling.

As a result the energy requirements of the manufacturing process are around 90% less than that needed to make the same style wine glass from recycled materials.

Made by a small family run business in London, the bottles are initially collected from various bars, cafes and restaurants in the West End and then taken to the workshop were they are transformed into wine glasses.
