These striking olive glass vases started out in life as wine bottles before being transformed into their current stylish state.

The wine bottles are initially cleaned, then loaded into a large kiln before the Master Glass-Maker ‘punty’s’ and reshapes each piece by hand, making each glass vase truly unique and handcrafted.

All the bottles used to make the vases are collected from pubs, clubs, restaurants and camp sites within a 10 mile radius of the glass studio. This helps to keep down the emissions associated with their manufacture and reduces the amount of glass going to landfill.

Currently, about 3.6 million tonnes of glass is used in the UK every year and over 1 million tonnes goes to landfill. Recycled glass products help to create a demand for more recycled glass which in turn will help keep more glass out of landfill.

The recycled vases are handmade in a small glass studio in Bideford, Devon by Lars and Anders Persson.

The fundamental ethos of their company is to make the recycling of a used glass bottle as environmentally friendly as possible – to transform, what in effect is discarded domestic or commercial waste, into contemporary useable glassware products.
